Hermès U.S. Show Jumping Team Qualifies for Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping Final following CSIO4* Langley

Langley, B.C. – The Hermès U.S. Show Jumping team wrapped up the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ North America, Central America and Caribbean Nations Cup qualifying competitions at CSIO4* Langley, British Columbia Friday. The team of Karl Cook, Richard Fellers, Christine McCrea, and Jonathan McCrea finished in fourth place on a total of 17 faults. The U.S. has now secured a spot in September’s Furusiyaa FEI Nations Cup™ Final in Barcelona, Spain. Mexico finished first on 12 faults and will join the U.S. at the Final. Canada placed second in the Nations Cup with 14 faults, and Ireland in third with 16 faults.

“Our goal today was to solidify qualification for the Nations Cup Final so it was a successful day in a fantastic venue. I am proud of the combinations that we sent out today and we’re looking forward to Barcelona,” said Chef d’Equipe DiAnn Langer.

Jonathan McCrea (East Windsor, Conn.) and Windsor Show Stables’ Special Lux tackled the Peter Holmes designed course first for the U.S. He and the 2004 Irish Sport Horse gelding went clear to start the competition on a high note for the U.S. team. Cook (Woodside, Calif.) with Signe Ostby’s Tembla followed second in the order. He and the 2004 Zangersheide mare came out determined, but ended on nine faults with faults at the open water and fence nine. Riding third in the order, Christine McCrea (East Windsor, Conn.) and Windsor Show Stables’ 2005 Holsteiner mare, Nektarina B, picked up another score of nine with rails at obstacles six and 11b. Fellers (Sherwood, Ore.) with Harry and Mollie Chapman’s Flexible anchored the team. He and the 1996 Irish Sport Horse stallion made light work of the course, going clear. The U.S. went into the second round in third place on nine faults.

In the second round, Christine McCrea turned in the U.S. team’s only clear round, while Mexico maintained their lead and Canada marked three clear efforts.
