The French Leave Perpetual Trophy

Presented to the winner of the USEF Talent Search Finals, East

Donated by Gerald A. Nielsen Family in honor of the most versatile horse of the time. ‘French Leave’ carried the Nielsen’s three children through their riding careers including the inaugural 1982 Show Jumping Talent Search Finals East and the USEF Hunter Seat Medal (only one of five riders to ever do so). Another daughter rode French Leave to the 1987 USEF Hunter Seat Medal and placed 2nd in 1988 at the Show Jumping Talent Search Finals East. Many times French Leave would compete in a junior jumper class and Maclay Equitation classes on the same day – winning both!
