The Karen E. Stives Endowment Fund was established thanks to Karen Stives’ generosity and understanding of the importance of providing opportunities for this country’s up-and-coming eventing talent. The Grant, in partnership with additional funding from US Equestrian (USEF), often enables U.S. eventing combinations to participate in U.S. Eventing European Development Tours and critical competition experiences that prepare developing athletes and horses to successfully represent the United States against the best in the world on the international stage.
The Grant supports horse-and-athlete combinations already competing at 4*/5* level with the perceived potential to achieve Elite level by supporting with a competition and preparatory training opportunity. The ultimate goal of the Grant is to develop athletes that have the potential to win medals as an individual or contribute to a team medal at the Olympic and World Championship level.
In 2025, this Grant supported the USEF Eventing European Development Tour.
