Aachen, Germany – July 17, 2016 – The cones phase completed the Combined Driving CAIO4* at CHIO Aachen, and on Sunday afternoon it was Chester Weber who drove away with the individual bronze medal for the United States.
The Ocala, Fla. native drove his own Amadeus, a 2005 KWPN gelding; Boris W, a 2006 KWPN gelding; Para, a 1997 KWPN gelding; and Jane Clark’s Splash, a 2003 KWPN gelding; and Uniek, a 2001 KWPN gelding.
He and his team went into the cones phase on 158.4 penalties from the dressage and marathon phases and were ranked third. Weber left all the balls atop their cones, finishing the cones test with only 2.56 penalties for time, finishing the competition on 160.96 penalties. Their effort throughout the week was good enough to secure the bronze medal behind The Netherland’s IJsbrand Chardon, who finished on 159.24 penalties.
