Olivia LaGoy-Weltz grew up in the San Francisco Bay area where she rode and competed in dressage and eventing through age 18. In 2002, LaGoy-Weltz moved to Europe and spent five years working in Holland and Germany at several top sales and competition barns. She returned to the United States in 2007 and started her own dressage training business, becoming head trainer at a large facility in Northern California. In 2009, she moved to Versailles, Ky. to ride sales horses on behalf of her former employer in Holland, Egbert Kraak. LaGoy-Weltz began competing on the Florida CDI circuit in late 2009. LaGoy-Weltz won the 2012 GAIG/USDF Region 2 Grand Champion title with Rifallino.
LaGoy-Weltz had strong performances in 2013 with Rifallino. At the Palm Beach Dressage Derby, she and Rifallino won the National Grand Prix Special and then won the National Grand Prix Freestyle at the Wellington Classic Dressage Challenge II.
In 2014 LaGoy-Weltz began the season with numerous top CDI placings on the Florida circuit with Rassing’s Lonoir. The pair then finished third in The Dutta Corp./USEF Intermediaire I Dressage National Championship at the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions presented by The Dutta Corp. In the fall LaGoy-Weltz and Rassing’s Lonoir swept the Small Tour classes at Dressage at Devon CDI3*.
LaGoy-Weltz and Rassing’s Lonoir started off 2015 on the Florida circuit, finishing second in the CDI1* Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I Freestyle classes during week five of the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. At the Palm Beach Dressage Derby CDI1* the pair won the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I classes. They then aided the USA I Team in winning the Stillpoint Farm FEI Nations Cup CDIO3*. Competing in Europe for the first time, LaGoy-Weltz and Rassing’s Lonoir finished second in the CDI1* Intermediaire I at München-Riem. At CDI4* Achleiten the pair was fourth in the Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I.
LaGoy-Weltz runs a selective training program dedicated to top-quality horse and rider development, based seasonally in Middleburg, Va. and Wellington, Fla.
