Though eventing is Black’s passion, she developed a strong background in dressage with the help of her cousin, Olympian Adrienne Lyle, while working for both Lyle and Olympian Debbie McDonald on several occasions over the years. In addition, Black has trained with some of the best eventing coaches in the United States and Europe, including Jan Byyny, Sally Cousins, Mark and Tanya Kyle, and the late Amy Tryon.

While Black has had excellent results catch-riding horses over the years, she prides herself on producing young horses from the beginning, giving them correct and confident basics. One such horse is the diminutive and feisty Doesn’t Play Fair. Black produced “Cody” herself, with the pair making its Advanced level debut in 2014. Together, they have achieved success at the CCI4* level, highlighted by their third-place finish in the 2016 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event presented by Land Rover , thus earning them the Rolex/USEF CCI4* Reserve National Champion title.
